Communicative Tool
Communicative tool is an application, tools or technology which enable to people to communicate beyond the physical barriers. Its a two way process where senders send the message and receiver receives the message. Over the years communicative tools have played an important role in disseminating the information to the people. Communicative tools such as google classroom, blog, g-mail etc...had played an active and important role in the field of education where it had made the teaching and learning effective for the teachers as well as students as it enhance the interaction between the students and teachers, provide variety of information with clear and concise concepts, it increase classroom productivity and collaborative work and it also incorporates new learning methods that can cater to all the students with different learning needs.
Communicative tools are categorized into two: Synchronous and Asynchronous Communicative tool. Synchronous communication involves video conferencing, online chats, telephone calls, etc..which often require the participants to online at the same time, thus it is the real-time communication. However, asynchronous is the opposite of synchronous which it allows the students to learn and complete the work without any fixed schedules, thus it is more flexible as compared to synchronous communication. Synchronous communication is more or less like traditional teaching and learning and asynchronous communication is more of modern means of teaching and learning, thus among this two asynchronous is more of student-centered and appropriate communication in today's world of teaching and learning as it gives opportunity to students where they can learn and construct their own knowledge as per their own way or at their own pace.
So among all the communicative tool, one of the most commonly used tool in school is Google classroom which is easy and convenient to use by all the teachers and students. Thus, Google Classroom is an online tools that allows teachers to set assignments, have work submitted by students, to mark, and to return graded papers. As an educational software, it makes the teaching and learning easy and convenient for all the educators, it help the educators to save time, it engage all the students thus enforce inclusive environment for teaching and learning and it also enable the students to have an access to the teaching and learning materials whenever it is convenient. At the same time, it allow immediate feedback from the teachers so that students can work and grow as per the feedback they receive.
Steps involved in creating a Google Classroom:
Open Google and type classroom.google.com.
Click on Google Classroom, Log in.
Enter appropriate email.
Tap Add (+) to create class.
Enter the class name, section and subject. Than click on create.
Click on Announce something and give a brief description on your subject regarding what you are going to teach.
If you want to add an assistant teacher or students click on people and on the add button at the side.
In order to provide notes, classwork, assignments, etc click on classwork and on create.
Steps in uploading notes, assignments, videos and quiz;
- Go to classwork and click on assignment, materials or the assignment quiz depending on the work, give a title and instructions.
- Click on the plus sign to create the assignment, assignment quiz or to upload the notes and if you happen to select assignment choose whether you want to create it in the docs, sheets or slides.
- Give instructions regarding what students need to do whether they had to read the notes, watch videos, work on assignments or the quiz.
- After all this, go to right side of the google classroom and set date and the topic where you have to select the week that you are going to assign the work to students.
- We can also create rubric or the criteria to assess the students work, in case of assignment regarding how well students had work on completing the assignments.
Even after assigning the works to students, teachers can also check on who and how many had turned in to do the task and also assess and grade them accordingly. Thus, this tool can be effective in case of emergencies where there comes a situation where by the classes gets called off and can still continue with the teaching and learning.
