SAMR Model Lesson Plan
SAMR was created by Dr. Ruben Puentedura which stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition. It is the planning tool that help the teachers to design better learning activities to enhance the teaching and learning in a class.
Given below is the SAMR Model;

Substitution: It include the direct substitution of the traditional tools or the methods like ppts which are often not that interactive cause it simply involves substituting the textbooks.Thus , the direct replacement of the text.
Augmentation: Substitute the traditional tools or the method with significant changes, like the use of animations, images or the videos to make the lesson interactive and interesting.
Modification: There is a functional improvement in the way the lesson are designed; rather than just bringing improvement to the lessons, the educators and learners try to modify the lesson in a way that it can bring a significant changes to the learning progress and the outcome.
Redefinition: Involves the use of technologies to complete the work that cannot be done by the traditional tools or the methods, like giving feedback to each other's work through the online platform, creation of educational games etc.
Lesson Plan 01
Teacher Name: Tashi Lhamo
Subject: Science
Topic: Characteristics of Living Things
Class: V
Time: 45
Teaching Learning Material: Video links, Power Point, Digital tools, textbooks
ICT Model: SAMR Model
Previous Knowledge: Students already know about living and non-living things.
Lesson Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to;
state three characteristics of living things (Plants and Animals) after the observation,
develop skills in nurturing the growth living organisms like the plants and animals,
recognize the relationship between the living things (Plants and Animals) and should protect and conserve them.
Lesson Introduction (5 minutes)
Before introducing the actual lesson, the teacher will first ask the students to write about the animal that they keep as a pet or about the plants that they grow at their home, then let a few students share what they had written to the whole class.
Lesson Development
Information Input (10 minutes)
Instead of using textbooks to teach the students, teachers will use ppt to introduce and teach the students about the living things. (Note: The ppt should be interactive and interesting)
Activity 1 (15 minutes)
In order to further help them to understand more about the concepts, the teacher will form a group of 4 members in each group where they have to go around their campus and record the name and the characteristics of the living things that they came across in a table given below, along with the diagrams. Let them present their findings in the class followed by necessary corrections or feedback.
Activity 2 (10 minutes)
In order to check the students' understanding of living things, the teacher will use an interactive tool, that is a padlet, to let the student write at least 3 characteristics of plants and animals. (Note: use the link given below to carry out the activity.)

Lesson Closure (5 minutes)
Let a few students summarize what they had understood from the lesson and ask them a few questions to find out how much they have learned. In order to help them to stay on a topic, give them a home task asking them to write on how they will preserve and protect the living things in 250 to 300 words.
